Unlocking: the moment before opening
Some paintings are not meant to give answers, but to point to a precise moment. Unlocking focuses on that suspended second in which something inside us decides to move. Not the door, not what comes after, but the choice itself.
Created as part of my ongoing exploration of inner landscapes, this piece reflects the conscious act of opening what has always existed within us. Not as an external revelation, but as an inner decision. The instant when potential stops being abstract and begins to turn into lived experience.
About the Painting
The female figure emerges from a desert, a space I understand as silence and introspection, where external noise fades and inner movement becomes visible. Her gaze is fixed on the horizon, while her face remains covered by a mask. The mask does not hide identity; it marks a transition, a liminal state between who we were and who we are becoming.
Inside her head, a door opens onto a universe of light. The key is present, waiting. In Unlocking, the lock is not a barrier, but an invitation. The work does not capture revelation itself, but the moment just before it happens, when everything is ready, except for intention.
This piece is not about crossing a threshold, but about deciding to do so. About the inner movement that precedes transformation. Unlocking celebrates that intimate act: choosing to look inward and taking the first step toward self-discovery, even without knowing what lies on the other side.
